I gain so much inspiration from my clients each and every day. With their permission, I’m passing along some of their best practices for coping (even thriving) during these challenging times.
Know My Bottom Line. Want to be successful in your next negotiation (for a raise, promotion, etc.)? Start by fully defining what you’re willing to accept as your “bottom line” of success in the negotiation. For example, identify your expectations for a minimum salary increase and what you will do if that minimum is not met. (No, I’m not suggesting that you share this with your manager as an ultimatum. Instead, know that “plan b” will be a commitment to yourself to find another job if your bottom line is not met through the negotiations.)
