Not wanting to look unprepared. Fear of failure. Assuming that ‘she should know.’ She’s busy. There are many reasons for a disconnect between managers and their team members, but I often find that clients have not clearly defined their needs and/or challenges to their managers.

Don’t assume that your manager knows what you’re thinking. Yes, it might involve some risk, but check-in and make sure that you fully understand one another.
