As the final step in your review of last year’s performance, assess how you were able to enhance your knowledge, skills and abilities. Keep a list of classes and conferences that you attended. Update any certifications (or progress in achieving a certification). Don’t forget abilities, those “soft skills” (ie; leadership abilities, emotional intelligence, etc.) that are more difficult to measure but can make a big impact.
Remember to find a safe place to keep your information and update it regularly. This will make preparing for a performance review, updating your resume, or asking for promotion much easier.
