Want to make your resume stand-out? Demonstrate the impact of your work in a way that is relevant to your target industry or employers. Most people use their resume to demonstrate what they’ve done. But, so what? Stating that you developed a marketing plan, or wrote multiple grant applications is interesting, but not particularly helpful. Instead, tell potential employers that your knowledge, skills and abilities led to big impacts (increased sales, enhanced customer satisfaction, reduced expenses, improved efficiencies, etc.). Don’t leave an employer asking: “So what?” Tell them how you did your work and what impact you had on the bottom line.
